Women, Science and our Globalised World – J. Michael Adams conversation series

21 Oct 2014 – The United Nations Academic Impact launched the J. Michael Adams conversation series featuring Saudi Arabian scientist Dr. Hayat Sindi.
Dr. Sindi’s inaugural lecture will have a focus on “Women, Science and our Globalised World.”

The series, launched in the context of the 70th anniversary commemoration of the Organization, is named for Dr. J. Michael Adams, who contributed immensely in time, wisdom and counsel to the definition of UNAI, which was launched by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in November 2010. The series envisages an annual lecture by, and subsequent conversation with, a renowned scholar who interacts with the United Nations and academic communities on a subject of global significance and interest.

Dr. Sindi is a visiting scholar at Harvard University and a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador recognized for her efforts in promoting science education in the Middle East, especially for girls. She is also is a co-founder and director of “Diagnostics for All”, a non-profit fusing biotechnology and microfluidics, dedicated to creating low-cost, easy-to-use, point-of-care diagnostics designed specifically for the 60% of the developing world that lives beyond the reach of urban hospitals and medical infrastructures.
